The Bayou Meets The Bay Classic Foundation now accepts cars! All vehicles will be inspected and valued by an outside company and then sold at auction. Around 80% of the proceeds will go directly to our foundation, helping us create scholarships and support our mentoring groups. All donated vehicles can be used for tax deductions.

How a vehicle donation benefits the animals
By making a vehicle donation, you will be supporting pets in need. The money from the sale of your vehicle will go towards funding the animal rescue work, spay and neuter surgeries, and educational work that Best Friends Animal Society does at our sanctuary in Kanab, Utah, our lifesaving animal programs in cities around the country, and our support of animal rescue groups across the United States.

By clicking the above link you will be taken to a page that details the simple process for donating a vehicle. First, you will call CARS directly at 888-99-BF-PET (888-992-3738) or fill out their online form. CARS will arrange for free pickup of vehicle within 24-48 hours of your car, boat or other vehicle. There is no cost to you. Your vehicle can be picked up from your home, office or even a repair shop.
Charitable contribution receipt
In exchange for your vehicle and signed title, the tow company will give you a pick-up receipt for your records. After your vehicle is sold, CARS will provide you with a tax receipt. If your car is sold for more than $500, in addition to the tax receipt, CARS will supply you with an IRS 1098-C form.
Charity tax deductions
Best Friends encourages you to speak with your tax advisor concerning your charitable vehicle donation. Your tax preparer can provide you with detailed advice and instructions about itemizing your deductions on your 2016 taxes to receive a tax break for your gift to the animals. A professional can also advise you about particular IRS forms that you may need to fill out and submit with your taxes.
Note: If you are interested in donating a vehicle, please review the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) guidelines for tax deduction allowances. Best Friends Animal Society partners with a wholesaler to sell donated vehicles, so the amount of your donation may not be the same as the private party sale value of your vehicle.

Teach for America works to ensure that children in low income areas get an excellent education. Less than half of the children in California are on grade level for reading and math, and it ranks 48th in academic performance. In the Bay Area, Teach for America has been providing great education for over 10 years. In Los Angeles, they have operating since 1990. Teach for America works to recruit leaders who work to expand educational opportunities in low income areas and then teach for two years in those areas.

The Guthy Jackson Charitable Foundation is dedicated to the treatment and a cure for neuromyelitis optica. NMO is a very rare disease that can affect the optic nerve and spinal cord. People with this horrible disease can develop vision loss, or weakness, numbness, and sometimes paralysis of the arms and legs along with sensory disturbances and loss bladder and bowel control. Although there are some treatments available a lot more research is needed to find better ones and a cure.

A Home Away From Homelessness is dedicated to supporting and nurturing the needs of homeless and formerly homeless children and families in San Francisco and Marin. Their homes provide a physical, emotional and spiritual break for children along with educational, social and recreational opportunities.

Family Builders believes that every child has the right to grow up in a permanent, nurturing family regardless of the child's age, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or medical, physical or emotional condition. Family Builders educates the community about the needs of waiting children, advocates on their behalf and places the children with permanent, secure families through adoption.
